About the Journal

Academic Insight Journal of Multimedia & Information Engineering (AIJMIE) is an open-access, peer-reviewed scientific journal published by AII Press (Academic Insight Indonesia Press), an imprint of PT Academic Insight Indonesia. The journal serves as a platform for the dissemination of original research, review articles, case studies, and applied studies in the fields of multimedia technology, information engineering, and digital systems. Our goal is to foster academic and practical discussions that contribute to technological development and innovation in Indonesia and beyond.

AIJMIE invites scholarly contributions in (but not limited to) the following topics:

  • Information Systems and Management
  • Software Engineering
  • Artificial Intelligence and Data Science
  • Digital Literacy and Human-Computer Interaction
  • ICT in Education and Creative Industries

Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two experts in the field to ensure academic quality, originality, and relevance. Authors and reviewers remain anonymous during the review process. The editorial team makes the final publication decision based on the reviewers’ recommendations and the journal’s editorial standards.

Open Access Statement

AIJMIE follows the principles of open access publishing. All articles are freely available online to all users immediately upon publication, without subscription or registration barriers. Readers are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. This aligns with the Budapest Open Access Initiative.

Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

AIJMIE upholds the highest standards of ethical conduct in academic publishing and adheres to the guidelines established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors, editors, and reviewers are expected to observe the following principles:

  • Authors must ensure that submitted work is original, properly cited, and not under consideration elsewhere. Plagiarism, falsification of data, and unethical research practices are strictly prohibited.
  • Editors will evaluate manuscripts based on academic merit, without regard to the authors' race, gender, institutional affiliation, or nationality. Reviewer recommendations and journal policy guide editorial decisions.
  • Reviewers must provide objective, constructive, and timely feedback. They should declare any conflicts of interest and maintain the confidentiality of the manuscript.
  • AIJMIE handles allegations of research misconduct seriously and will take corrective actions based on COPE’s flowcharts and best practices.

Submission Guidelines and Review Format

Authors are required to follow the submission format provided in the Author Guidelines section on the journal’s website. Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word format (.docx) and include the following sections:

  • Title and Abstract
  • Introduction
  • Literature Review
  • Methodology
  • Results and Discussion
  • Conclusion
  • References (IEEE format)

Once submitted, the editorial office will perform an initial screening (plagiarism check and scope relevance). Eligible manuscripts will then be assigned to reviewers. The review process follows these steps:

  1. Initial Editorial Screening
  2. Double-Blind Peer Review by at least two reviewers
  3. Reviewer Feedback is shared with authors for revision (if needed)
  4. Final Decision by the Editor-in-Chief
  5. Copyediting and Layouting
  6. Online Publication

Publication Frequency

AIJMIE is published quarterly (four times a year), with issues released in March, June, September, and December. This schedule facilitates the regular dissemination of research while allowing sufficient time for high-quality peer review and editorial processes.

Article Processing Charges (APC)

  • Submission Fee: Free. Authors are not charged at the submission stage.
  • Article Processing Charge (APC): USD 35 (thirty-five US dollars) is charged only if the article is accepted for publication. This fee covers peer review management, copyediting, DOI registration, digital archiving, and journal hosting.
  • Fast Track Review (Optional): USD 50 (fifty US dollars). Authors may opt for fast-track peer review with guaranteed feedback within 14–21 working days, subject to reviewer availability.
  • Printing Fee: Not applicable. The journal is fully electronic and does not provide printed copies.

Copyright and Licensing

All articles published in AIJMIE are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This means that authors retain copyright and allow others to share, remix, and adapt their work for any purpose, including commercial, provided proper attribution is given to the original authors.

Archiving and Indexing

The journal applies long-term digital preservation via the PKP Preservation Network (PN). AIJMIE is currently under review for inclusion in major academic indexing platforms, including DOAJ, Google Scholar, Crossref, and others, to ensure the broadest possible dissemination of its published works.

Use of AI in Publication

AIJMIE supports the responsible, ethical, and transparent use of artificial intelligence tools in research and academic writing. Authors are encouraged to declare the use of AI for writing assistance, data visualization, or analysis in the “Acknowledgment” or “Methods” section. Editors and reviewers may use AI-assisted tools (e.g., plagiarism detection, grammar checking) in compliance with confidentiality and COPE's ethical standards. Misuse of AI that leads to data fabrication or plagiarism will result in rejection or retraction.
